    Swivel Hub Gaiters

    G'day All,

Just wondering if anyone has fitted the leather or rubber swivel hub gaiters? There is a couple of sites flogging them in the UK (famous fours is one, cant remember the other right now).

I like the look of the leather ones, they are used on the UK mil vehicles so they should be OK? I'm about to refurb my swivel hubs and thought it would be nice to fit something to protect them (and look good too!).

    Cheers

I put a set of rubber ones on my 92 Range Rover several years ago.
Fiddly to put on as you have to glue as you go. The holes for bolts did not really line up either.
I had to remove one swivel as it was the only thing I hadn't recod and I still had a steering judder.
Unfortunately, you have to cut off the rubber gaiter to get to the flange bolts.
I still have one on but have never bothered to get another set.

Would I recommend? Hmmm, pretty neutral. They have drain holes so you just cannot drive say through salt water without worrying about your swivels. But they would keep mud off.
    Regards Philip A

These are only really needed if you are 90% in the mud, ie a construction site, or forestry tracks with deep mud.
The standard swivel hubs do a pretty good job without them.

Trouble is, if they fill up with mud etc then it just sits there rusting things away. I reckon you're better off to leave it standard.
