My experience would say yes.
I would not have believed that the pulleys could have such an effect on a torquey little engine like the TD5, it if it hadnt happened to me.
Heading north just out of Mackay, sitting on a hundred k and no sign of trouble all day. stopped to turn into the mobil just out of town and the car stalled, wouldnt start again,,, struggled to turn over, like a battery going flat.
RACQ tow into town,,still under warranty at the time so car in to the dealers next day. Dealer suspected gearbox was dragging or something. Two days later it came down to two pulleys where shot, one had given up the ghost, presumably as I pulled up to turn into the garage it seised.
I also experienced that the car seemd to perform better after the pulleys where replaced. the fuel economy had been really bad up until then also.


And no I havent been drinking or smoking........
