    Engine/year inquiry

Stupid Q, but I have to ask, as someone has made me question what i thought I was positive about

    My 95 fender Dcab130, 200tdi or 300tdi?

Where's the turbo? High-mounted turbo bolted to exhaust manifold = 200Tdi. Low mounted turbo integrally cast with exhaust manifold = 300tdi.

Late 93' but there are some 94's that must have been fitted with 200's to use up the last run or built as MY94 models in late 93. Joel has 1 of these.

'95 should be 300 Tdi. If the thermostat housing has two cast "circles" in the top it is a 200 Tdi, smooth top is 300 Tdi.

Dont know if defenders are the same but I normally just look at the belts on Disco's, serpantine belt=300, V belts=200.

I dont know if this is a good meathod but Ive only had to work it out once on a built in 93, regoed 95 Disco that a mate bought pre update heap of crap (I dont mean all that model are, just his).

It had had nearly no maintenance over the years and was falling appart but he thought it was the ducks guts.

I didn't get a chance yesterday to check turbo position and thermo cap, but the snorkle is drivers side, suggesting it's a 300, as i always thought. Can anyone else confirm the snorkel location test? I hadn't heard that one.

yep, air cleaner is on the drivers side on a 300Tdi 'fender, passengers side on a 200. Engine is hard up against the firewall on a 200 with a long fan shroud, engine sits much further forward on a 300Tdi.
