i think you will find the value in the hoses is two things, the quality in the hose and ther amount of silicone layers used the cheaper the hose the cheaper the hose if you catch my drift

and also your paying for the fact that these hoses are made in a mould i.e i could be corrected here but i would be supprised if you could pick up a top intercooler hose for a tdi just out of any silicone shop due to the shape, same goes for td5

and also i dont know about tombraider but my hoses are hand made so you are also paying for the cost of labour...

oh and its 3 hoses for a tdi........my cost although i dont have tdi stuff at the moment is what i paid for them trade!!! thats what i got them for so its not like me and tombraider are making heaps of money off you.

unfortunatle silicone is not cheap thats what keeps the prices high and you have to appreciate we import from the uk and the cost of shipping is not cheap.

But I have a young mate I know through work who has been in the hot 4 game playing with mods on wrx, evo's etc and he has a heap of stock left over from when he had a workshop, so I might get lucky in getting a cheap elbow , not sure about the top longer hose though, but it isnt any where near as soft as the elbow.....
It cost me close to $300 to replace the whole pipe,(2 rubber ends and the steel section), so your $160 is looking good.
yeah, the insides balloon and block flow in the hose. Most annoying.

Yep got all that, and yes i do understand why they are about $160-$180 a set, and also for the record I have no problem you or others helping other members importing them even if you make a little money on them, I think the extra few dollers (or what ever) would be well spend for the trouble you are going to for all the members etc.

As Im really only after the elbow & the top hose is fine, if I pick up a good elbow for say a few beers off my work mate (he has a bit of new stock from his old shop), even if its not the best ever made , its still better than the one on the Disco now.......
