    Brakes

While i was fitting a new heater hose on the Disco i noticed that i had disconnected the hose from the brake booster, it look like some sort of breather hose about 5mm in diameter, after i had finished i reconnected it.
Now what's happening is occasionaly the brakes won't work first time and if you apply them suddenly it's worse.

If a hose from the brake booster comes off does anything need to be done to the booster (ie) bleeding or something

    Brakes

I suspect that the hose is a vacuum hose to operate the booster. Check for air leaks on fitting. I would also check for cracks or perish marks on the hose. Jim

It sounds like you may have induced it to leak.
Start the engine, bonnet open, and carefully listen to the booster and especially the vacuum hose. If you hear a hissing sound you have a vacuum leak that will diabolically affect braking performance.
The solution is the careful application of some non-hardening gasket cement, and a couple of stainless steel hose clamps, fitted to the hose to ensure an airtight seal.

    good luck.
