Just got back from a "proper" test run and it works EXACTLY the same as the factory cruise in my dad's Disco2 (no surprise there)
If you tap the set switch it does increase speed by a small increment.
clutch press kills throttle instantly, brake tap eases throttle quickly, but smoothly so no transmission "clunk"
Most impressed and my ECU is a 10th month of 2002.
It's way better than my aftermarket cruise I had in the TDi.

I've never looked but on those wheels how do the switches connect to the car? is it slip rings, or coiled wire wound around the column?

I'll take some pics tomorrow when I'm fitting the dvd player (yes I know it's a Defender, but the DVD player goes with the 4 electric windows, and auto-start alarm(soon to be fitted))
There is not much to see as the only thing noticable is a small switch on the side of the electric windows control box.
Okay, here are some pictures,
I haven't finished the cruise install as I wanted to check it worked before I ran the cables properly, then we went away camping for a while....etc.
You can see the little toggle switch on the side of the window switch box
It's a "centre off, momentary SPDT" Fron the drivers seat I just drop my thumb down next to the seat, press forward to accelerate/set the speed then let go at desired speed, or if I'm at the speed I want I just give it a quick click forward.
If I want to pause I just give it a quick click backwards, then to resume, another click backwards.

I think I mentioned it earlier, I went to a local auto elec who deals in Range Rovers and he gave me some Knackered electric door locks which have the same connectors as the ECU, I removed 4 of the pins complete with the silicone seals and about 200mm (7 inches?) of cable, and soldered on to them.
Which VIC show?
