Another failure mode for intercooler hoses

About a year ago when doing some work on the head of my Tdi disco - I removed the hoses connecting the turbo to the intercooler. They were soft, but internally they looked fine so I re-used them.

I recently checked them again and discovered that one hose had de-laminated during the previous installation and that created a large flap obstructing the air flow (see pic). I'm normally very carefull and I'm sure I would have felt it peeling back, however the hose was so soft and the lamination bond had completely broken down. Needless to say the old girl goes significantly better with the new silicon hoses

Can definitely happen on a Td5, had to pick one up from Blaxland last year - needed low first to get onto a trailer, and then only just made it.

I sourced my new hoses from hyperflow technologies. They sell the SAMCO hoses which are a good quality brand. I just ordered a 100m of straight 51mm dia and a 90deg bend. Some minor trimming with the hack saw and they fit perfectly. All up was under $90 delivered. The bent hose had a nice curvature too, unlike some which are too tight or the cheap ones which actually neck down in the bend.

Do they have web site ? I was even think about the angles of the top hose, I think if you got 2 45's and a bit in the middle it would ok to, thats if you couldent "work" a straight bit on.....

...and yes - I only ordered 100mm. Not 100m as in original post

re 2x45's - good idea, I dont think there would be enough room in my disco for that as I have a snorkel fitted. Good luck with it.

I replaced all my Turbo Hoses with Silicon ones ages ago, my hoses had delaminated same as you have in the picture, and it gave me extra ponies.

http://www.turboxs.com.au/ if you are in sydney /Hornsby

I picked up the Intercoller Hose + Turbo Hose = $45.00

    which I though was reasonable.
