I am considering upgrading from my '93 200Tdi Discovery to a D2 Td5 (over the next few months).
For the life of me I can't find a site that describes the changes in the model over its life.
As some units for sale are listed as 00.5MY, I suspect that there were significant changes at that time (but what were they?).
Please point me in the right direction.

The TD5 was launched in 1999 and had 2 changes in its life up to 2004. There were always minor changes ever year or 2 such as different mags and other cosmetic variances.
Major changes came in the 2002 model year when the centre diff lock was removed - if you are going off road stay away from this model. Then came the major change in 2003 to what we generally call the Discovery Series 2a. There were 750 changes in this model (some minor and some major - new headlights, tail lights, grill, bumper etc, etc)
It's generally accepted that this is the best pic of the series as many of the previous problems were fixed and I have thus far had less issues with my 2004 than I did with my 2001 model.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
I would keep the D1.....

The only Discos that I have heard being called 2000.5 model years were the later 00MY ES Discoveries.
They had a few extras fitted prior to sale (chrome insert side moulds, stainless spare wheel cover.....) but otherwise they were the same car.
