Fuel pump help required, removing the olives !

Hi, question in regards to a v8 series one fuel pump.

The new fuel pump i have recieved doesn't have the union nuts on it, but i recieved new olives for the new fuel pump.

Question, what is the best way to get the existing olives off the old fuel pump, I can spin them with a pair of pilers, but can't seem to pull them off !!

When I fit the new olives to the new pump do they need crimping ? How ? or are they self crimping !!

    Thanks
    Matt.

I had to use the old olives too when I did the fuel pump.

I got some long nose pliers and put them 'over' the olive, close to the centre (pipe). I then tapped the pliers with a hammer and pushed the olive off. The pliers spread the force to both sides of the olive, so as not to dent it. Also try turning the angle of the plier with each tap.

In my case the olives self sealed once tightened.

Yeah, have mananged to get one off, but the other one is a PIA !! Will spin, but I think it is stuck in a dent that it created !! Why can't they just supply them with the union's on it !!

    Done, all fixed.

    Thanks Mike.

In the end just got the vice-grips and hammered it, told a bit of effort though !

All back together and started first time and no leaks.

    History :
I had a problem yesterday with the car starting. I managed to diagnosis it as the fuel pump, so I rang Karcraft at 3-4pm yesterday and got a good price on a replacement fuel pump and got it sent overnight via courier. It arrive here at my office around 11am today and I fitted it during my lunch break, should of taken less than 30mins, but in the end with the stupid olive it took an hour.

Anyhow big thanks to Tim at Karcraft for getting the order out urgently.

    Matt.
