Why can't modern globes last like globes of about 10 years ago. In the first 20 years of owning this vehicle, I would have replaced the globes no more than 3 times, in the last 3 to 4 years I rarely get more than a few months out of a pair, in fact one night I even lost both globes in the length of the Southern Cross Drive in Sydney.
Up till now I always replaced both globes at the same time as one failed, my reasoning that there is a filament life and it should be about the same for both globes. With them failing so frequently, it's not worth the expense.
I wouldn't mind paying extra for quality globes, double or triple the price even, however no matter what the brand none of them seem to last and price is no measure of quality.
Is it possible to get road legal, quality globes and where do you get them?

P.S. If you noticed the error, mine is an '84 build, '85 model with an '86-87 grill. So yes 23 years of ownership is about right.
