standard old 7.50 x 16 s be the shot, u just get an off road pattern, personally I dont like bar treads but I know others do, they are fitted to army landys and doubt they are made anymore, u should able to get a nobbly for hitting the bush, I need to do the same on my 3 though I havent delved too deeply into tyres as off yet

Olympic steeltreks are not a bad tyre , The army use them

Bartreads are fine for off showing more than anything else, but are almost unavailable in reality.

There are quite a few sizes available in 750x16 (Crossply) or 750R16 (Radial) which will fit, and I recomend that size over anything else.

I've got a set of Sime Konvoys on my land rover, brilliant, but a pretty heavy duty off road tyre. For something a bit more tame, bridgestone 604v's wouldn't be too bad.

I am running 7.50 x 16 Steeltreks on my 109 2a at the moment, no complaints. Handle a lot better than the bar treads I had before, but I'm not sure whether they grip as well in mud. I would not consider any other size - don't forget if thinking of wider tyres that you don't have power steering!

olympic steel trecks, Not just an army tyre but they have the priority on the buy.

they are available as new, retreads and seconds. but for new ones you have to wait untill theres enough of them around.

BFG ats arent too bad as a substitute

Goodyear Grandtrek are pretty good but I like BFG AT's in 235 85 16 which is close to 750 16.

The Olympic things that Rangieman runs are pretty good, we used to run them on an old cruiser ute on the farm as well as the GY Grandies.

The cruiser was used for the mail run up and down Mt Buller 5 days a week as well as farm work and both the Ollie and the Grandies did well for wear as well as capability but are not the greatest road tyres.

Dad's IIA 88" has steeltreks, and they have worn quite quickly. But they aren't too bad offroad.

A mate has Goodyear Wrangler TGs in 7.50x16 on his IIA 109", and they work quite well offroad.

Personally though, I have 285/75-16 MTRs on my IIA and IME they eat all 7.50s and 235s for breakfast offroad.
