Thread: Gasmaster or Magnecor leads?

I've happily used Magnecor leads for the last 3 years / 70,000km - happy with them but who knows if others would have worked as well. They were however better than the 20,000 km old cheap Bosch set that I replaced. Got them from A1 Hi Performance in Myaree (Perth).

Iridium plugs are fantastic for LPG. At times I felt I was driving a dragster. Well... in relative terms anyway. Gave me instant starting on gas too.

BP6EIX was/is the NGK Iridium plug to suit the County. They only lasted 50,000km for me though, and in the meantime went up from $16.50 to $20+, so I'm back onto normal plugs until the budget permits Iridiums again.

Check out Repco the last set I bought were $12 each but that was about 6 months ago.

I just looked at the price list about $70 for the RR, not too bad much cheaper then Magnecore.

Any chance anyone with Gasman could measure the resistance along one of their leads to compare with Magnecore.

If you have Magnecore could you confirm the 6000+ Ohms from the previous post, that seems a huge difference.

Go on you know you've been itching to play with that Multi-meter in your toolbox. I'll post the reading from one of my Bosch leads.

ignition leads should have between 6,000 to 8,000 ohms resistance per foot........





any more than that is too much resistance......and the spark will look elsewhere for an easier path......

I just got a price for a set of the MSD leads (40-50 ohms/ft) about $370 !!!!
There's a big difference between those & my $5 Bosch !

I wonder if you would get $370 worth of improvement :-)

you will probably find it wont run........




the less resistance you have......the better the spark you will get......
the old copper core leads will give the best spark......



you radio might not pick up anything other than static though......
and they may also upset the way your computer thinks.....

So why does eveyone go for these silicone & stainless steel leads then?

My ignition is one of those cranecams electronic thingys with an optical sensor across the rotor arm/button.

Its probably a dumb question, but how much life do get from iridium spark plugs with LPG.

Significantly more than 10,000kms I'm guessing ?
