They all have coils at the front and coils or airbags at the rear. Generally the 7 seaters are airbag rears.
Is that what you mean?
Just wondering what set up the Disco S2 uses for suspension?
Cheers Steve

When people talk about solid axle and floating axels, what do theymean?
Ah ok,
A solid axle is the big beam setup with the tube running between the 2 wheels like what the Discovery, Defender etc has. Its actually the axle housing.
A floating axle (actually the axle half shafts which are inside the axle housing and rotate with the wheel speed) is one that typically really retained in position by a bolt etc. The term is usually full floating or semi floating. The full floating axle has the ability for an endcap in the middle of the wheel to be removed and the axle half shaft removed. The Defenders, RRC and Disco1 use this setup. The semi-floating setup, such as on the Disco2, P38a RR has one end of the axle half shaft bolted through the hub etc, and must be in place for the axle hub to work on its bearings etc. The advantage of the full float setup, is that you can break an axle and pull it out or replace it easily in the field. Not so with the Semi-floater, though if the axle breaks away from the hub you're usually ok.
Probably as clear as mud now.

Full floating axle only sees the torque load to rotate the wheel. The weight on the wheel is carried by a separate hollow spindle that the axle passes through.
A semi floating axle has to carry the torque, plus bending from the weight on the wheel.
