    What's this?

Any idea what the thing in the yellow elipse is:

I'm guessing it is something to do with lights & electricals for a trailor/caravan/etc but I've never seen a connector like it before.

    Sam,
Its a trailor plug, you may have seen them only in round variants, but u have a 7 pin flat variant on your beast. If u have a trailor with a round plug u can buy round to flat adaptors.

    Thanks abaddonxi & sniegy!

As I suspected then. I was just curious as I'd never seen one that shape before.

i like your recover eye that is in your tow hitch thingy ma bobba.......but.....is that a ocking pin you got in there

when we brought a recovery doo daa like yours and a locking pin as we didn't want it to get nicked the guy on the 4x4 shop actually gave us one of the normal brass looking ones and said dont recover with the locking pin one in there not strong enough.......

just thought i would pass that on whether you take it or not

yeah, most of NSW has gone away from the 6 and 7 pin round plugs for trailors and are fitting that flat type as standard on new towbars.
victoria tends to go for those massive, round, cast aluminium jobbies as standard. dunno why!

Yes, it is a locking pin but I double checked it would be strong enough to do what I needed it to do - it's rated at 12,000lbs (or possibly it was more than that?? I can't remember) but thanks for the message anyway!

When you say "brass looking" that would be the proper pin as it is probably nickel plated steel.
