    Unhappy Water Trap Drain

    G'day All

I was working in my carport today (raising it 50mm to fit Fiona in) and thought to myself "well I drove nearly 4000k to get here, I should drain that water trap".

Well, I tried to remove the little plastic plug but no go. I decided not to force it as that could be fatal.

Anyone got any idea where I can get a new one?????

What make of trap is it or is it a custom made LR one?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Hi Adrian,

use a 7/16" spanner and undo the bolt from the top down the middle. Then at least you can clean it out properly. I Never undo that stupid plastic drain plug, as yes, they will break off and leak everywhere...I have been presented with a broken one before, and used a M6 (Or a M8?) bolt with a O ring under the head. It is still leak free.

    LR sell the plastic bungs...

Yes... pull it out and clean out the slime and dirt....

Mine was 3/4 full when i pulled it out...

Ohh dont pull the sedimenter and the filter at the same time..
Do one at a time and then start it to prime the system... let it run until it clears its throat.... then do the filter.....

bought a complete new unit from Karcraft in silverwater, was 70 somthing 12 months ago. Land rover list price is somthing stupid 150+.
I cut my old one in half and it was full of 20 years of crap, even after it was drained.

I drained mine yesterday and a heap of water came out. I took it off 8 mths ago and gave it a clean. Is it normal to accumulate this much water so soon.

I made sure my tank was full. The fuel level is higher than the sedimenter so gravity fills it up for me. It probably also helps flush rubbish out of the sedimenter.

I have a spare sedimenter that came with a bolt and gasket instead of the plastic threaded plug.

The drain plug is a Whitworth thread ( can't remember what size.)My plastic one broke too I drilled it out and replaced it with a Whitworth bolt from Bunnings and a fibre washer.
