    1995 V8 disco alternator alternative?

    ok any alterantives to std V8 alternator
    only ever being Tdi guy myself I have no idea ???

    my bros 95 disco just had it's alt ****
    I just got a price for him
    it's probably the same as a falcon or something anyone know what?

    Been there, done that, but on an older 3.9V8 with 4 belts.

    Costs? Bought two second hand alternators for $70 in total, $40ish worth of new bearings, friendly auto electrician slung me an old VS Commodore V6 alternator pulley for nix. I had to disassemble it and install the tacho feed wire (see pics). I buggerised around with an adaptor to ensure it would work, but in the end I did a cut and shut on the original bracket.

    Since modding the bracket it has been fine. MUCH better than the overly complicated Marelli rubbish with ****y bearings.

    Was quoted $250-$300 to have a drive in drive out Bosch (new) fitted by Ray at Romsey Land Rover centre. Did it myself mainly so I got a better understanding of how they work. That, and I am stubborn!
