    URGENT - advice needed; transmission

went to watagans today to have a look aaround for a couple of hours. ended up getting a disco 1 in "limp home mode" where i could only use 2nd gear in high and low range... any ideas on what happened... going to get it looked at by transmission people tomorrow as its being kept at nrma security tonight.

any advice on the problem or even good transmission repair places near wyong or tuggarah would be fantastic

    thanks heaps

    Manual or auto?

Sounds like a jammed selector. Hopefully nothing will require pulling apart.

I always hope that before I find I have to pull things apart

D1s do not have limp mode - it was just buggered.

There is a Landy specialist at the Wyong end of Tuggerah Straight. Old English 4wd I think but not sure.

    Ditto...

300TDi Disco doesn't have a 'Limp home', that only came about with the TD5. I suspect the selector mechanism is bu@@ered.

IIRC - The selector lever is connected to the gearbox via a cable, it could be something as simple as the release switch on the lever broken. However... It could be something more sinister inside the 'box.

if its totally and utterly stuck in second gear then something is wrong with the brain in the box, a good flush might get it working again but dont count on it....

If its a stuck selector solenoid/actuator it would still try to pick other gears at the same time and woulnt move anywhere...

Hope for a brain fault as that can generally be gotten at through the sump.
