Thread: Leaking Td5 auto trans cooler

You should be able to get it repaired. I've seen a few crack where the pipe barb joins to the cooler itself.
If that's the case with yours, you should be able to get it welded up to repair it rather than replace it.

this problem seems to be increasing,,,,,

just had a look at RAVE,,
are there 4 flexible hoses?

I have seen a couple do this.

The quick disconnect join where the hose meets the oil cooler at the side of the radiator seems to be a weak point.

Same with around the end cans (tanks) as Scouse has said.

just went through this.the pipe from the trannie came apart where the flex hose joins.On my disco it was on the pass side and removing the airbox allowed us to remove the hose from the cooler and fix.(love those hose clamps) best to do it BEFORE you empty the auto fluid all the way up the highway.(and b4 scouse puts the mocca on ya,do the quick release connector up correctly....

Just had mine done, it was leaking where the bent pipe is mounted to the body of the cooler, it had cracked. A weak point apparently. I had both inlet and outlet pipes built up with alu. weld and now she's sweet again. Easy fix, cost $80 + GST (plus the time to get the cooler in and out of course ha ha).
