    1999 Freelander transmission judder

    Hi
I have a standard 1999 Freelander turbo diesel. There is a judder in the tranmission somewhere when pulling away in first. I've had a new clutch fitted with the flywheel machined, new rear drive shaft bearings and the engine/diff mounts checked. After the work has been done, or after a service, the judder goes completely, but then comes back after a few days. The local LandRover dealer says it might be a 'characteristic'. Has anyone had a similar problem, or know of a fix because it's driving me nuts!
    Thanks
    Steve

Is not normal - I would have said the clutch/flywheel but you said you have had them done.

One other possibility is the rear diff mounts - there are three with most of the weight on the front one which chews out relatively quickly - normally shows up as a knocking but could feel like a shudder. It is easy to check - just shake the rear diff and if it moves it will be the front mount. Other than that I would say the clutch and flywheel was not done correctly - there is nothing else that can cause a shudder.

The shudder has been reported to the service provider? Was the clutch done at the same place?? May be an oil leak onto clutch from rear main or g/box input. MAYBE being cleaned up at each service to get it past the warranted period....
