Some more details mate? Which engine? 200 or 300TDi? Where is the Mod" from??
Cheers,
Mike
Last week I had the muffler on the defender removed and it makes a difference. The engine has so much more get up and go and a added good thing is the driveline slap is almost gone.In traffic in on-off throttle conditions the engine braking is not as severe so the driveline is smoothed out bigtime,I can drive up a couple of hills around here with it boucing off the governer in fourth were before it wouldn't get close.$33 including GST.It's a bargain performance mod. 2011 DEFENDER 130
300Tdi All I did was get the muffler cut off and replaced with a straight piece of pipe.Best $33 ever spent. Pat
I would say it's much the same a I have, Ive just cut out the centre muffler and replace it with a hotdog or just a piece of pipe which basically just lets the turbo spool quicker meaning that power comes on much lower in the rev range.
The note out of the exaust is a bit wierd but your in the drivers seat so it doesnt matter to you.
It does nothing to emissions and it iwould easilly still be well under 85db (95db is the limit).
It is one of the easiest mods you can do.
By the way, I had a new flex pipe fitted and had that done at the same time and it cost me no more than just the flex pipe $200 all fitted and done.
Could have done it myself but I didnt.....
Sounds
Oh great. No worries. Thanks for that.

The exhaust note is a wierd sound but you can't hear it from inside. Pat
yep getting the same done to my disco
as soon as i have the time to get down the exhaust shop been wanting to do it for a while
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Why is that centre muffler fitted in the first place if its removal is so beneficial? (On re-reading that I realise that it could be interpreted as questioning your claims. That is not my intention. It is a genuine question.)
Surely it can't be that important to keep a LR so quiet.
Or is there some undesirable consequence of its removal?
