    Td5 Engine Number

    Can anyone assist me in locating where the ENGINE Number is located on a Td5. The 'Rave' CD says it's on the block near the centrifuge filter but although there is a flat machined section there, there is no number on it. I have also checked this location on my two other Td5 motors wioth the same result - no number.

    As I've just bought Landy No. 27 - a Td5 Defender 110 Xtreme from Qld. and need to get it 'Blue Slipped' and registered today, any assistance or advice would be appreciated.
    I might then be able to get away on the three trips I've got planned over the next six weeks.

    LHS towards the front, at the top of the block.
    It's stamped on a vertical face so you need to look horizontally with your chin just about on the guard.
    Chances are that it will need a wipe over first before you can read it.

    Thanks Scott,

    That's exactly where I was looking but it appeared as though there was no number on it.

    I had to remove a couple of hoses, spray it with brake clean, wipe with rag then use a good small torch before
    I was able to just read the number.

    It is only etched on and I have been told that if subjected to seaside atmospheric conditions becomes impossible to read. Mine was readable so must not have had too many trips to Fraser or Morton during its life to date in SE Qld.

    Holy thread revival!

    I'm having the same issue with registering my td5 vehicle in NSW. Any advice on where to tell the shop the number is located (or walk me through it and I can point it out to them)
