Exclamation coolant spit - urgent advice please! Td5

    Hi all

Ok, further investigation this morning sees coolant dripping on the floor!

Remove noise shroud and have a good look around - now this isn't a Mitsubishi 4D56 motor so don't know all the bits yet, bear with me:

On the driver's side of the motor is an aluminium cylinder which i assume is the plenum chamber for charge air, below this is a smaller thin walled aluminium or tin cylinder with flat ends, ends from which the coolant is leaking! appears heater related?

What is it and how do I fix please?????

    Mike

Fuel cooler ??..mine leaked coolant from the hose that goes to the bottom of the radiator and had to replace the hose retaining clip..

I'm sure the experts will be along soon..

    Good luck..

Thanks guys, that sounds like it then - yes leaking around the ends but hoses seem dry? Looks more like the actual plastic caps(?) in each end...

is it something i can live with for a few days if I keep an eye on the coolant each journey?

Same here, but the one I had managed to fix it self for periods of time, the first time I was alerted to this it was dripping and almost flowing. Then it stopped, drove 800km down to Perth and they did a pressure test and all was good. Then in Adelaide it leaked again and never again. Well when I got back to Sydney I bought one for $20 on evil-bay and replaced it and all is good.

    Get them here as well.

    http://www.roverparts.com.au/fuel_sy...td5_diesel?b=1

    Early models about $500..
    Later models about $300...

yours being an 01 ..not sure if that's an early or late...check your VIN and good luck ..

always worth checking Karcraft , might be cheaper and they do ship very quickly..

Luckily my fuel cooler leak repair was a $2 hose clip....no doubt the whole cooler will go eventually so i'll keep adding to my emergency repair TD5 fund just in case....

    cheers,
    Richard
