Adjustable panhard rod
Hi guys, hopefully someone can answer my question.
Was wondering why adjustable panhard rods are needed, is this so the same panhard rod can be adjusted to fit on different cars so manufacturors only need to make the one rod and it fits different 4wds?
I know what the panhard rods purpose is kinda, but what difference would it make to a disco with a 2-3" suspension lift, Am i not getting as much flex out of the front as i would with a adjustable one that has been set up for the car?
Cheers

G'day, each adjustable panard rod for different vehicles have different bends, lengths and strength to suit each particular model.
My D1 diff before the Panard rod was fitted was about 1" across to one side, once centred it handles and feels much better and my articulation clears guard evenly.

Ok so I should really be getting a new rod to suit the suspension lift, and that should alleviate some of the handlind and rubbing problems.

Use a plumb bob to measure the offset of your diff housing vs the chassis.
You may or may not need one - but a proper adjustable one will be stronger so you won't bend it.
Not a bad idea to get one anyway.
Dave.

A Panhard rod serves one purpose only. It provides lateral location of the axle to the vehicle. If you lift or lower the suspension, then you are likelt to have changed the distance between the two anchor points. Ergo, an adjustable rod is required, or a new one made to the altered length.
