MY Uncle Willy had a Thornycroft truck with a 4 x 3 twin stick sliding gear crash box. That was a trick to learn to drive, particularly split shifting where you are using both sticks, one upshifting and one downshifting. No clutch as the clutch leg was holding the steering wheel, the other foot was adjusting revs. Both hands off the steering wheel and on the gear sticks.
Seems as they we have a little fan club going here:)

I'm not a perfect driver when changing from low to high and i do it every morning, but i don't do it at speed as i'm only reversing up the driveway, then changing from low to high when only just moving.
I can see that if you do get it wrong at speed it can be expensive.
We can't all be perfect all the time, well i can't, dunno about others here:cool:
