On my Stage 1 the outlet pipe is just looped around to the inlet connector.
Hi
I have a RRC V8 and want to block off the rubber feed and return hoses going to the cab heater.
Can I just blank them off with a stopper or does the circulation need to be maintained with a hose from the feed and return hoses?
Yes I know I could just try it but I don't want a "damn I wish I handn't tried that" scenarios.
On my Stage 1 the outlet pipe is just looped around to the inlet connector.

I was thinking I could try to get some sort of U bend pipe rubber or otherwise but it would be simpler to just block off the hoses.
Loop them, block them, whatever, what do you think your heater tap does![]()
Just remember, a heater/demister is required under the ADR's. If not operational, your car is out of compliance and unroadworthy. I don't know about other states, this item is on the check list for a Safety Certificate in Qld. and is rigidly enforced. Transport Qld. inspectors when doing roadside random safety inspections always check this. Fine and points.

So maybe put a marble or bolt in the hose or hoses if the heater rad is leaking. The old ball bearing in EGR hose trick.
I do not think blocking or looping matters, but there could be some mysterious reason it does.
If it is a hard dash RRC there is no tap.

Thanks Brian. Interestingly, this requirement does NOT apply to a Stage 1 (or other Series) station wagon, which is complianced as an Omnibus and seats 10. Compliance with ADR 15 was not required for buses until 1983, though all other Land Rover variants required demisters from 1973. Moot for me because my wagon has been altered to an 8-seater.

Not too sure, if it matters, but mine are looped with an S-bend tube so it just recirculates through the pump.
Anyone keen to work out what this costs in additional fuel consumption? anyone??
Anyhow, Brian brings up a good point about legality. The fine, I could potentially live with, but to lose my ONLY point... not so much! I mean, my exhaust noise is pushing legal limits (I shift @ 2k on local roads), the bucket seats are hard fixed to the floor (no adjustment), now no demister.
We all like playing russian roulette with transport inspectors, but three bullets in the chamber (that I know of)... that's... well... suicide! (gulp)
Sooooo if anyone has spare hoses they'd like to donate for a good cause (or sell!!), I'll be keen to hear from you.
the heater hoses are only about $15 if I remember correctly?
I have lived in Perth for 4 years and have yet to even see a roadside spot inspection.
I only dont want to put the heater back in because if I need access to the g/box again I wont have to remove the dashboard again to remove the floor.
