i know it's an old question....

but i've searched through the posts and still don't know what the answer is so.....
to set the scene it is quite possible that my engine in the 200TDi disco may be defunct and deceased (pending closer inspection by my mechanic) so whats the best replacement to drop in i want to stay diesel and i want some more power in useful places but funds are not limitless unfortunately. i've read some of the horror stories concerning big chevy conversions and don't want to go there.
    4bd1 +/- T seems like an option
where would be a good place to get this done in vicco?
    and rough pricing??
    any other suggestions gratefully recieved

tdi 300 with some mild pump tweaks. you should be able to get a runner from a wreck at a reasonable price.
