    d1 problems

we took our d1 out off road today and on our travels down there on the freeway heard a strange noise. what i can only describe as perhaps a cross between metal grinding and a clunk????????????? happened only for a short time but seemed to be coming from the rear.

took her off road anyway and she performed admirably (photos to follow later)
anyway on the way home after stopping for some refreshments the noise reappeared and the clutch pedal now has the first half of it's travel as just slop. the noise we decided might well now be coming from under us as opposed to the rear.
are these two related or do i have 2 seperate problems?

    regards jason

it could easily be related as rovers are good at transporting noises from one spot to the other.

try pumping the clutch with the tcase in nuetral and the main gearbox in 5th and see what happens.

something else to note the clutch pedal is now on the floor and has to be manually pulled back up into position
there is perhaps an inch of travel at the bottom most position before the pedal stays down.

    can't anyone help?

Have you checked the fluid in the clutch reservoir?

Sounds like the slave cylinder is leaking or mastercylinder.
    Lost any clutch fluid???
If not Im guessing its the master cylinder bypassing and drawing air.
Sometimes there is a problem with the clutch fork.
