I mounted mine above the rear vision mirror:

Bent up an aluminium bracket... it uses the same holes as the plasic map pockets up there (I just used longer screw). Riveted this bracket to the radio cradle.

Bit of a bugger running the coax up the pillar... but not too bad..

The one negative is on really rough terrain... the mike jumps out of it's holder - usually at the most inconvienient time...

And when it hit's Mrs Bytemrk..... we all get to share the pain.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am liking the back of the cubby box but also liking the roof mounted on the sunroof controls area. Mmmmm just need to see what the OIC of Finance and big decisions has to say.
    Thanks again

I put the radio fro my daughter's D1 in the same place as Bytemrk - above the mirror. That's where the previous owner had it and all the cabling was already there.

I would love a remote head unit but we had already bought the Uniden single din unit as we were in a pickle and needed one quick and this was the only one available.

It's funny how the mind works.

Just as I closed the thread, I caught this signature line out of the corner of my eye.

However, my mind saw it as " You must strive to be a Jet ski in a world of Caesareans."

    Weird!
