So a 'ricey' blow off value doesn't suit a diesel? Only highly strung petrol engines?

Maybe the header and twin turbo tractors have blow off valves?

I dont know what equipment you are running so I cant really comment on what you have.
Not a twin-turbo tractor, rather 2 of my 3 tractors have turbos and neither has any boost limiting device.

Some petrol engines employ a blow-off valve so as to prevent stalling (effectively) the turbo when the throttle is closed, but others use a dump valve to vent the boost back to the turbo inlet to achieve the same result without any noise. A lot of diesels don't have a throttle valve so don't stall the turbo. But mine has a throttle valve (currently disabled) without any means of re-routing the boost side of the turbo which has 2 effects: the turbo must be spooled-up again and the life of the turbo bearings is shortened.

I have to retract my comment completely on the boost contral as after Bush65s post I remembered that some of the MF and Volta tractors dont run boost control as they are limited by the efficiency of the turbo and they are governed to suit.

Sorry about that, I put it down to a dumb moment, Ive been having one all day, I blame the trainee as I have been working with him all day.

Yeah I dont see it working on a TD5

What I was calling a blow off valve may have a different name, I was just a TA at the time but I was interested in what it was and thats what my boss told me it was.

I'm told that young fellas install fake blow-off valves to make people think they have a turbo.
