    Hi Graham
Try pushing that reset button on the firewall incase its been tripped.
Have you missed one of the battery wires if you have had it disconected?
    Goodluck.

    Hi Graham
Its a longshot, but try wrigling the trigger wire on the starter motor(rhs motor, you need to get underneath.
Mine played up a fair bit when the fuel block was leaking diesel all over the starter.

    Hi Guys
Ive just been chating with Graham on the tellingbone.
    One thing Graham hasnt mentioned.
He has been into the dash fitting a mobile handsfree kit and electric brake controller.
All fuses/relays/circuit brakers etc are good, checked with multi-meter.
Is there any other "hidden" fuses etc that he may have advertantley shorted.
It has an aftermarket imobiliser that may have been upset by either the handsfree or brake controller instal.
Graham needs help, its stressing him a tad!!!!

    Graz,
It is quite likely that you have knocked off one of the wires off of the ignition. They are very easy to knock off, I have done this myself and then wondered why it would not start. It is easy done. They are basically just spade connectors. Instrument binnacle will have to come back off (I can do this in my sleep now). There should be 2 or 3 wires to separate spade pins on the back of the ignition module. One of them is main power.
    Hope this helps.

    Red face Bingo

Craig and Andrew were on the money...

A spade connector had come off the ignition switch and was resting against the terminal and making intermittent contact so replicating oil in the harness symptons. The spade terminal had lost its tension so I will renew it when I get one. There was oil at the ECU connector though its obvious it was not the cause of the problem.

I now have a very clean oil free harness, dare I say it, good for another 160,000 k's.

If this site had a Wood Duck Award then I would be a likely recipient

    Thanks for the replys

    Cheers

Oh Graz, the simplest of things hey?
    Glad all is good now.
Been there and was what the ??? when it would not start. Not the best wiring connection set up, but on the plus side easy to get to and tap into for ignition power if you need to.

Stay out of the dash Graz!!!!

Hello Graz, I'm brand new to the forum, just stumbled upon it last night and happened to see your problem . I had the very same when my 2003 130 was only weeks old. living in Norseman at the time I needed to trace the fault myself. You won't be surprised to know that it is a manufacturing fault where the feed for the ECU and sundry components under the seat loses its contact due to a poor crimp on the + battery terminal. Simple but elusive, especially as it can be intermittent.
I'm certain that this will be your fix

    Lynn,
Good to see another region member. Spent the last 24 years in Kambalda, now in Esperance. Keep an eye out for Shrek when you are down this way.
