Question Starter Motor RRC Question ??

Does anyone here know wether the mounting bracket / body of a RRC V8 starter motor can be replaced??
My Dad who now has my old RRC in South Aust, has had the bracket crack near one of the bolt holes and is loose. If it can be replaced as the starter is in good nick itself, does anyone in the Adelaide to Murray Bridge area have one or an old starter with the bracket? Can this be welded? Some are saying it can not.
Failing that does anyone have a decent starter they want to sell?
Would be ok if I was in SA, but am 2400kms away.
    Thanks
    Craig

Craig mate i did the same to my magnetti marelli it broke off the bottom bolt lug on the alloy housing as it worked loose and the starter moved and broke it whilst cranking the engin ...

My fix was i welded it back together with my mig I first had a look and it was a clean break and it fitted back on were it broke neatly so i ground weld prep on either side of the crack all the way round both sides and ends then tacked it back on then test fitted it to make sure it was ok then i fully welded it with plenty of heat so it was strong then cleaned it up with a grinder and refitted it this was done about 2 months ago and it works fine I had the engin out 4 weeks ago and it all looked fine so im happy with the weld up job
