After reading Rosco's thread about his sick batteries it led me to the question of, will the pulse devices like Megapulse, etc. bring back or extend the life of his batteries from sulphation? Do they work? Anyone have any knowledge or experience with these?
Ive got one thats a Jaycar kit model modded slightly so that it can also hang off of a 500ma charger to keep the battery topped up if needed during the zapping process...
so far its 3 for 5 at ressurecting batteries the other 2 batteries It might have been able to save given enough time and effort but IMHO if your not getting a reasonable improvement in a fortnight turf the battery.
IME if the battery isnt tooo stuffed they work The main battery in big red was a 600CCa unit that was testing at 300 odd CCA before dropping below the acceptable voltage. But it was still starting big red OK. 3 days (8 hrs per day) on the zapper got it up to 500 and 3 more days got it to 550+ admitedly each day after 8 hours on the zapper I hit it with the 20a charger to top it back up But in my book thats a win.

I dont think this is a hijack given the thread title?
I have a good size spare battery of unknown age i keep it charged but wondered about that battery reconditioner stuff from supercheap, worth it?
or maybe try to get the acid refilled?
Inox has a battery conditioner (desulphates lead plates in battery), I used it on a battery that I replaced a few years ago because it wouldn't hold a charge, it sat around for a year and was only reading around 6 volts. I used a small bottle of Inox battery conditioner, put it on charge and it is still working now, no problems, I have used it on other batteries as well, it prolongs standard battery life, Regards Frank.
hmmm ta I might get some and chuck it in as long as it wont do any harm.
Just thinking where does the sulphate go? does it just disolve?
What do you think about replacing the acid?
I have about 20L of sulfuric out back.
I used the inox about two weeks ago... battery now wont hold a charge, it is nearly three years old so not bad anyway. They do warn it may kill the battery on the box
the sulphate comes off of the plates and sinks to the bottom of the battery....
some of it is resorbed and redeposited and the rest just sits there

not a good idea then unless the battery is on it's way out.... kill or cure?
Just thinking out loud but what if inox was used then the battery flushed and new acid added?
It's theoretical anyhow as my batteries are OK, (for now) I was just thinking about the future.
When I kill a battery I'll try it and let you know.
