    Military Bulkhead vent seals

As it's raining again, I need to replace my bulkhead vent seals. Does anybody know off hand where I can get some of these?(military type) Cheers, Matt

Vent seals are interchangeable from 1958 to about 2000, and as far as I know there are no special military seals. However, there are several different varieties on the market, although I can't offer specific advice on which ones to get.

You will be able to get them from any supplier of Landrover parts, probably including dealers, but I would suggest a phone call to either All four x 4 spares in Newcastle or Land Vehicle Spares in Silverdale (near Warragamba), credit card at the ready. They should be able to advise the best type and the postage should be pretty small, or a drive across Sydney or to Newcastle tomorrow could be a pleasant outing.

Beware of 'solid' sponge seals. Hard as hell they are, & not very pliable.
I fitted mine with dabs of silicone & left them shut for a couple of months. I also gave the sealing surface a wipe with silicone grease because if you look at the closing action, you can see the vent trying to drag the top of the seal side ways. With the grease it slides over the rubber.
