Rocky Mountain Agent
In a previous thread it was mentioned that there was a
Perth WA distributor of Rocky Mountain Products.
It is not Discovery Autos or Brit Parts.
I have decided to take the expensive plunge and buy an overdrive, but i just wanted to check if there was someone here, before getting a mail order from QLD.
Cheers

There is no WA distributor for rocky mountion products. FWD motors is the only Australian distributor for Rocky stuff, Howvere Discovery Automotive is a distributor for FWD Motors.

I thought I read that Disco did WA and that the other mob had the rest of the country . . . but that's just my memory. (I think I added that disclaimer in that other post!)
I can highly recommend the Roverdrive, except for hot weather, and by that I mean over, say, 35c or so. Under that it's fine. At 40-45 I've had enormous trouble with it burning the oil. A couple of years ago I contacted Ray Wood and he said that the unit did run hotter than they expected, and I fitted that finned ally bottom plate they also sell - which is worthwhile - but still, at these really high temps I'm still having trouble. I emailed them the other day and haven't heard back yet.
But like I said, it's a really good overdrive and fine unless you're way up north here.

Synthetic gear oil would probably be the go if you're not already using it.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. (Rushing to reply to something while at work will do that!)
Yup, the company also said to use synthetic and I have done so since the first incident. It's the Shell Synthetic Gear stuff, and I use it in the main gearbox as well and it seems quite good.
But in the overdrive and transfer even it's gone black and smelly.
I just wish these guys would reply so I can work out this one. I'm a tad befuddled, as they say in old books.

I think I pretty much covered the running too hot problem in my other post. It's only been a problem on really hot days, doing 100kmh, so unless you're up here then you should be fine. Also, my Land-Rover is a 109" with a fair bit of extra weight. The overdrive has been really handy and is the only reason I can get my old Landie to 100kmh in the first place!
I should be selling the whole transmission in the new year . . . if I can get the conversion I'm doing sorted out.
