You fill your starter with grease?
    Like you do with bearings?

I think he means just the front and rear parts of the housing as if you filled it around the armature it would fill the grease with dirt and crud and basically grind the permanant magnets to nothing pretty quickly.

I didnt notice any movement and being auto it doesnt matter that it was in park but in saying that I must have moved it a bit as it turned over straight after I got out from under the car as the young fella wanted to give it 1 more go before we towed it and away it went.

My first reaction was that it could be a broken timing belt and something jaming in the engine but it's all good now.

    Thanks again folks.
