    Starter motor

My TD% did exactly the same thing when the brushes stuck in the starter motor. Check the little rubber valve is still on the drain from the brushes cover. I had to put a piece of vacuum hose with a loop in it there.

Well... a very similar thing happened to me and the dealer replaced the starter motor. It hasn't not started since

Having said that I have seen first hand how electrical interference can ground a disco. A friends brother has a disco, and you can never start his car from the top of the driveway. Push it 30 feet back down the drive and away you go

Mine does it all the time (as much as a random problem can be all the time). Might go 3 months without a problem then one morning or night, hot or cold, turn the key to here a click, turn again - click, might take 3 turns or 10 but it always starts. Might do it a couple of times in a few days, and then nothing again for a few months. The first time it did it I thought it was the solenoid, but it has been doing it now for over 12 months (on and off), and always starts in the end. Numerous threads and ideas, dont think it is related to the Amcal chemist thing though - that is to do with keys/imobiliser, this is seperate.

Just add it to the list of "It's a LR thing!"

Exclamation Check those starter motors guys!

Everyone is describing exactly as I had happen to my D2. I think the clicking of the solenoid eventually lets the brushes jolt back and work properly. The solenoid wouldn't even click if the imobiliser was active.
