    Gears locked low Range

    Hello All,

I am new to the Land rover fourm,
I have a 2000 model TD5 110 wagon, when my mate borrowed it 2 weeks ago went 4wding and Apprently tried a 3 point trun with the center difflock engaged, the end result is now the landy is locked in low range.

Has anyone had this happen to them before??

Any help is appreciated, is it something i could fix or better to send to a mechanic?

    Cheers

I take it you have jacked up one wheel to release wind up in the drive train?
    If not try that.

I'm not sure about the low range bit but on Saturday night I couldn't unlock my CDL on my D1. I had been 4wding on slippery tracks mostly in low range CDL for many hours.
To get it out I drove on the dirt swinging the steering left to right going forwards and in reverse. I'd never had it be so difficult to remove.

Anyway my passenger and fellow forumite and club member flicked it back to CDL and out again while I was doing the above and the CDL light went out.

As for not going back into high range have you tried shifting it on the move? Mine won't change when stationery.

Dinty, The vehicle had completed approx 10 km in low with the cdl engaged, it was only after doing the 3 point turn that the issue was noticed.

    Justin,
I have tried to shift it from low to high range on the move and stationary, the CDL light is still on and wont budge, had a look under to ensure nothing was caught etc.
My CDL is leaver controled not a switch, not that flash.

I have learnt one thing he won't be borrowing the wagon again.

    Cheers

    Justin,

That is what I have to do with mine.
A good sharp "Whack" gets it out.

I think it's called lack of use

D1s are lever controlled too, you 'flick' the lever to the left to lock & right to unlock.
Being that your having trouble with both the CDL and hi-low change, I'd also agree it's probably just a bit siezed in the linkages, get under there and dose them with some lanolin spray.
And as Philip said, have you jacked one wheel off the ground yet to release the windup?
