I would say that the front axle was on firm ground and the rear still in the creek and therefore on looser ground.

The crossing were varying disatances apart and I wasnt hanging around between them, through braking (some times hard) and almost stopping before crossing each one.

I didn't have the CDL engaged at all and it was only at these times, exiting the creek the that TC Noise occured.

From what I have described, is all in order? would you have expected the TC light to come on every time?

That's normal, the light doesn't always come on, it probably didn't fully ingage the TC, probably because the wheel didn't do a full rotation.
