Unless you have locking wheel nuts, there's no need to remove the caps to undo the wheel nuts, the caps are permanent.

But if you have, i'm pretty sure you can only get the key from a Land Rover dealer.

    thanks redback,
i have the locking nut key so will have another look tonight. i thought they were caps on the nuts as the book shows some tool to assist removal.
    cheers

The one with the locking nut should have a dimple in it, the rest should be flat. Just use the wheel brace and turn iy lightly and the cap will come loose and pull off.

Yorkie, there is only a removable cap on the locknut. This can be seen by a small depression in the middle of it. The normal wheel nuts have a flat surface. You can gently pry the cap off with a small screwdriver, or something teflon coated from the kitchen.
Then the locknut will be exposed and you can get it off with the lock nut kit.

A lot of people on this forum dispense with the standard LR wheel brace and get one of those extendable inch 1/2" socket handles and a 27mm impact socket ( the black ones ).

This is a lot stronger item and gives more leverage.

    Oh I presume D2 are 27mm.

Unless you especially want to stay original I'd forget about the LR toolroll and make your own up using high quality stuff.
