    Exclamation V8i Firing order

My 1998 Disco has run a little rough since I bought it. I have ordered a new MAF (aftermarket) and changed all the plugs leads cap and rotor. Yesterday I noticed that the firing order is not the same as in the LR manual.
The book says it should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 but mine is running as 1-8-4-5-6-3-7-2 so the 3 snd 5 leads are swapped. But it will not run smoothly using the correct LR firing order??
Could this mean that someone messed around with the distributor setting? because how is it possible that it runs better with the incorrect firing order?

    Look forward to your ideas.

    Viv,

18436572 is correct, and there is no way of altering it, so I would say that there is a problem somewhere. Possibly valves?

Isn't the order stamped into the block somewhere on the V8's ?
