G'day all, I've have a 1999 D2 with the standard rims and tyres 235/70/R16 but I'm looking at going to 15" rims, and tyres to suit. I would like to know is such a thing possible and does it affect the car in anyway? and if it is possible what rims would you consider eg. Sunraysia .. any help would be great..

Hi Sharpie.
You need to stick to 16 inch. Are yours steel???? plenty of people on here would be interested in them,a few months back I would have swapped you a set of alloys for them. The original steels are hard to come by.
The steels are 7 inch same as the alloys, there is a big range oy 16" tyres that suit.
Do a Google on King Wheels, they had an add in the 4wd monthly, they have D2 16" sunrasiers.

so many thanks for your responses..
Not to mention reduction in handling...
Poorer brake cooling...
And it'll look like ****!
Im pretty sure you can fit 15in wheels to a d2,, finding some that fit is the hard part, i was looking for a set myself a while ago to put some play tyres on, one thing i found was that they have the same stud pattern as a commodore just different stud size, you can get commodore wheels machined to fit but they arnt rated to handles the weight of a d2.
It may also be worth checking with Sneigy. I'm sure he said a few years ago that they had a Disco2 in the workshop that was running 15" rims.
The other thing perhaps worth considering with the commodore rims, if you do find them suitable in size, load rating, offset, spigot etc, is that the latest commodore I believe came out with bigger studs that I think are the same thread as the D2, and so you may be able to use standard commodore wheel nuts with those particular rims.
Cheers

Hey Bud
I have a set of 15inch rims with some 33's, they are wicked looking as I am a young bloke, but the main reason was i had some new tyres left over after I sold my cruiser. they get around the problem of the brake callipers by an increased offset in the rim. The other bonus is you get too use wider tyres on the vehicle and it increases your range of tyres too choose from if you are that way inclined. I got onto opposite lock at spring wood in Brisbane and they tracked them down for me. The only other thing is that with the wider tyre you may have too look at a bit of a guard cut/ flare fit. Especially if you increase the size of the tyre.
