Heya guys,
I started my TDI D1 the other am, when she was cold and it has a clicking noise, what my dad said he believes is a loose tapet and he said it will get worse if i leave it be.
Is this bad/ major? Any info would be appriecated.
Thanks Cal

ditto.
Tdi's use a case hardened 'cap' on top of the valve stem, and have a habit of killing them.

Try this thread, It starts as just turning the engine over but morphs into doing valve clearences.
So grab some caps and check out a few threads on it and give it a go, they are really hard to completely stuff up so it's a good job for someone who isnt that mechanical yet to start with.
Just follow the instructions and you will be fine.
and, to make you 'the man' if you go to your parts supplier: P/N LJC100270. (As of 2002) and carkraft silverwater list them at $2 ea. Use long tweezers to get at them after you wind back the rocker.
PS: TDi's need tappet adjustment from time to time - everything could be ok, just need re-doing to 0.2mm.
