    Key erroneously activates movement sensors

Because I have damaged the unlock button on my key fob I have started to use the key manually to lock the disco. It is my understanding from the manual that I should be able to unlock the car manually with the key with no problem. Extensive searching on this forum confirms this. However as soon as I open the door the alarm sounds until I get the key into the ignition and turn it ready to start.

When I lock it I can see the red light flashing quickly as it is arming the alarm.

Before I ask the mechanic and/or dealer, does anyone know if there is an easy fix for this?

EDIT: in bold to draw attention, not because I am yelling

I need to clarify: I am locking by putting the key in the lock and turning it, I am not using the lock button on the fob. This seems to activate the movement sensors even though it should not, hence the alarm will sound when I unlock using the key in the lock and opening the door.

    Is driving me crazy.

Are you locking with the key or the lock button?

Hi, mate i had a simalar prob w my 98 disco with the movement censer, it allways was going off at will and started to lock it with the key, as u prob no if u lock the car with the key the movement censer is deactivated but if you lock it with the fob it aoutomaticly sets the cencer.
i looked at the manual and fund that its the locking code at entre tha resets the alarm eg the one i used was put the key in an three turns to the left in sucesstion will reset the alarm!! this fixed the problem yhea
but now l have to lock the car w the key !!, short of disconecting the movement censer
may help "don't know but hope t helps mate"

in my D1 I can lock with fob and unlock with key no probs.
maybe reset the alarm as suggested or disconnect battery leave for 10 min and reconnect. ( make sure you've got your PIN for your stereo handy first )
As said locking with the key only disables the ultrasonic movement sensor. That sensor is really sensitive - I have been woken up in middle of the night by a moth flying around inside the car.

I am locking with the key, which means the sensor alarms should not be activated. However it seems to me that they are activated!!!
