Checking the gas pressures on aircon lines takes a set of AC gauges - easier to get a routine service from a car AC mechanic. They regas car air conditioners all the time.

forgive my ignorance, but ididnt think you could get the aircon regased anymore. wasnt there some kind of law passed about ten years ago or was that just the type of gas used??? and the age of the aircon??

anyways could anyone offer any other ways of finding what the prob is??

any system, regardless of age can be re-charged, but first off, is the compressor cutting in ?
When the switch is flicked on and off you should be able to hear/feel and see the clutch engage on the front of the A/C compressor.

Read this thread from last week. I think we nearly had every fridgy in the known universe participate.

The original gas is no longer available, but there are replacements that will work, sometimes with minor modifications to the system. Any car AC outfit should be able to advise you.

sounds like you have a dirty contact or a faulty switch (All hail Lucas prince of darkness)

I had my clutch unscrew itself from the compressor it may be worth while checking this as well.

Look in th sight glass of the receiver/dryer. This tells you if you gave enough gas.
