Exhaust manifold leak - repair advice

Hi all - my 02 has been getting louder and lounder; what started as somthing a bit like a tappet has grown and is clearly either an exhuast manifold gasket leak or a flange gasket leak from the headers to the engine pipe. I havnt looked for tell tales or sucked CRC through the guts (sans the Air mass sensor before doing it!). Is is more likely just to be loose manifold...and how hard is the change of gasket or fix for either of the problems if its not just loose bolts (with weird heads).

    Cheers

My d2 v8 used to crack the manifolds just under the top flange where it joins from 3 pipes to 1, it was welded on several times on both sides while i had it, with the last weld job done very heavily to keep it from happening again, i had planned to get some extractors to replace the stock pipes but never got around to it. I would start by checking for leaks there.

Thanks mate will do. I notice your toy of choice is a County. My brother is selling his D1 and is working up a very nice County with a 400+hp 327 Chev, dual transfer cases, and 36 inch tyres, but down for comp use - should be finished just after Xmas. Go County.

    Cheers
