    annoying creak from instrument panel

    Hey All

    I have been getting a really annoying creaky type sound coming from around the instrument panel and steering wheel for a while now (at least since my big desert trip) when driving. It is mainly in response to hitting a bump etc in the road and it starting to really annoy me.

    Now I know most of the trim in the disco is hand cut and fitted and as such others might not have this problem, but has anyone else had this issue and how did they fix it (apart from tons of space invader no more gaps)?

    Hi Angus,
    My 99 had a creak that was caused by the plastic surround pressing on the clear plastic face. The simple fix was a small piece of cardboard in the appropriate spot.

    Thanks Graeme...I will check that. I just really hate squeak and creaks in my car. My experience tells me that this usually means that something aint right and that its going to get worse if I dont fix it.

    Is it a squeak as you turn the steering wheel?
    There is a mod that you can do to the steering column if it is.
