unknown part
can anyone help ??
i have not long had my discovery and i found a part that i cant identify.
its a round lump of steel right behind the front diff, it has a small cable attached to both side of it, but it doesnt seem to be attached to anything alse..
the reason i ask is because mine is now bent from a close encounter with a rock
should i just straighten the bracket with a sledge hammer ??

A waste of space, believe its meant to be some sort of vibration dampener, no effect when removed

its a vibration damper held on by a v8 engine mount.......
the wire is there incase the rubber mount breaks.......it will bounce between the road and the gearbox......
and pound the living daylights out of the sump......
the only good thing about it......is the fact that you have a spare engine mount......
should you have one let go on you while out in the middle of nowhere........
