    LT95 - reverse switch actuation

    Season's greetings from Godzone...

LT95 'box, of mid '70's vintage I think, no reversing light.
Removed switch - tested = knackered.
    Obtained new(er) one.
Tested OK before install. Reverse light comes on.
    Install. No reverse light.

Peer inside switch hole on top of box. Put box in reverse. No rod or lever seems to be coming forward into the space to push onto the switch button.
Am I missing some vital lever/rod from the linkages inside?
(Says he, hesitant to take top cover off just yet).
Perhaps some PO has not put something back inside?
    Any guidance from LT95 experts?
    Neil
