Cool vibration in my 110 300tdi

Looking for a vibration is I suppose looking for a needle in a haystack, but I do have one and it is driving me mad. It is NOT the tyres or wheels as I have just had them balanced and aligned. I have had the transfer box overhauled with a new layshaft fitted. It is not a fast vibration but seems stronger if motor under load, like lugging a little. I am open for any sensible suggestion of what to check next. Jim

Have you backed-off the handbrake in case the drum is a little out of round? Maybe it was adjusted too close after the TC rebuild.

If you've already checked the wheels & tyres...

    1 - Bushes.
    2 - Wheel bearings.
    3 - Swivel housing (bearings & pre-load).

That'll keep you bust for a while.

If the vibration is through the steering, my money would be on the swivels.

dont forget the propshafts and engine fan.

if youve got the viscus coupling on the fan and the fan is a bit out of whack it will produce some interesting vibrations.

If it helps my 110 also vibrates and makes a metalic noise underload very low down in the rev range , i find its the exhaust , if i fitted a flex joint on the exhaust engine pipe just down from the turbo , im sure that would stop it , but it does,nt worry me that much so i leave it and dont let it lug too much
