only want this sorted!! Not an unreasonable expectation after spending a $100k on car!

nope does not do it all of the time. It is better since they uploaded latest s/w patch when it was in for 6k service. It was a 9.9 / 10 problem then, now it is a 7 / 10 problem.
The issue is you never know when it is going to happen which causes you to drive like an old lady with a bowls hat on!! Or a Camry driver
S75A TPA and solicitors are last resort. I am hoping this can be sorted out.
cool, thanks for that. Will have to try the DSC thing off. I drove nearly the full length of Straddy with no dramas after the bogging incident. Had DSC on, only used low for the really soft and heavy stuff, rest of the time kept it in high. Tyres down to about 18psi.
Seem to recall from my old RAAF days that we used to drop the 110s down to about that and they flew through the sand even with the poohey tyres on them.
cheers
Peter
In case you werent aware, where the tow points are ( ie power) there is a rear recovery point as well built into the chassis, ie have to take off the plastic cover to get to it. I now just leave the front and rear one off all the time.....just in case :D,Quote:
Just as well I had the towbar gooseneck attached as we put the snatching strap on that.

Steve.. that's really suprising about the DSC. Basically the DSC shouldn't be intervening at all. However switching off the DSC aslo switches of Traction Control.
TC is normally a good thing and it isn't even switchable in a defender (not easily anyway). Whats more I've driven all sorts of places on sand and never had a problem with it. What's more, there have been a couple of occasions where I've felt the car starting to dig into the sand and next thing the TC comes in and the car feels to leap out of the hole it was digging for itself.
Edit: I think it's possible that the TC is working overtime becase of the over inflated tyres. When with friends on the beach next time try leaving it on but air the tyres down first!
Starting to get past my very little technical knowledge here :D, but I generally have had it on in Sand in the past, but it does say in the manual to switch off DSC in sand, though as far as I know TC is still active. Aside from the one memorable time of being bogged in sand, that has been it.Quote:

The "no response" symptom sounds like what I had last week. See my post in the D3 Zone forum. I had put my foot down to enter the freeway and it died. I immediately pulled over and stopped and restarted the car so did not see if it came good after a delay. The dealer said it was a turbo replace job. Still waiting for parts after 8 days even though they said overnight delivery from interstate. Does anyone know if there is a shortage of turbos:(
